New Crypto Access for European Investors
Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR), a leading global brokerage firm, has officially announced the expansion of its digital asset services into the European Economic Area (EEA). This strategic move is facilitated through its subsidiary, Interactive Brokers Ireland Limited, and relies on an integration with Zero Hash. The rollout allows eligible individual investors across the region to include digital assets in their investment strategies alongside more traditional financial products.
Supported Assets and Trading Platforms
Investors in the EEA now have access to a total of 11 cryptocurrencies. This selection encompasses market leaders as well as widely used utility and payment tokens:
- Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH)
- Solana (SOL) and XRP
- Cardano (ADA), Avalanche (AVAX), and Sui (SUI)
- Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Chainlink (LINK), and Dogecoin (DOGE)
Trading functionality has been integrated across the firm’s entire suite of professional and retail tools, including Trader Workstation, IBKR Desktop, Client Portal, IBKR Mobile, and IBKR GlobalTrader.
Integrated Portfolio Management
The core advantage of this launch is the ability for clients to manage a diverse range of assets within a single interface. Alongside cryptocurrencies, the platforms offer access to stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and mutual funds. CEO Milan Galik emphasized that this unified experience is designed to help clients manage risk, liquidity, and capital more effectively across their entire portfolio by keeping all holdings under one roof.
Global Service Context
The expansion into the EEA builds upon the company's existing crypto offerings in other major markets. Currently, Interactive Brokers provides similar digital asset services in the United States via Interactive Brokers LLC and in the United Kingdom through Interactive Brokers (U.K.) Limited, signaling a continued commitment to global digital asset adoption.
